New Jersey Devils fire head coach DeBoer

Do you think this is too long overdue?

He lost the team last year and many people I know were shocked when he got a contract extension this summer. Just hope they can play somewhat respectable/watchable ice hockey the rest of the way because the special teams have been horrible to watch, and they constantly get manhandled off the puck, especially in the defensive zone.

Offensively, they have  a combination of dump & chase, with attempting to set up the cycle. Usually winds up with a pass to the point being intercepted and an odd man rush occurring. Here's to hoping they eventually get someone out of the college ranks or can lure John Hynes out of his contract with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton. Guy has a proven history of developing younger players, especially with Team USA development program. Pete? Not so much. Somewhere Adam Larsson has to be smiling.

DeBoer had been with the team the past three seasons. After taking the Devils to the Stanley Cup Final in 2012, his first year with the team, DeBoer and the Devils missed the playoffs the next two seasons.
